Visitors to Dubai should respect Islamic laws in their trip

Visitors to Dubai do not have any problems as long as they respect local customs, Islamic laws and have respect for local women and all citizens.

Islamic Laws that is, Shariah laws, are being followed in Dubai where leniency is for non-Muslims. It gives a lot of freedom to people of other religions lives in Dubai or anyone of other six emirates of the United Arab Emirates. Legally, Dubai and the whole United Arab Emirates have “Islam” a state religion, that is, Islam is the official religion of the United Arab Emirates. Dubai is one of the Emirates of the United Arab Emirates.

Dubai and all other six emirates of the United Arab Emirates had always been solely Islamic countries. Later, all seven emirates were united to establish one country “UAE”, it has official religion “Islam”. It has ‘General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowment’, that is, an independent legal authority which reports directly to the Cabinet.

Since oil had discovered, its trends of changing ethnic and religious composition are ongoing. Now, the nation has built multicultural atmosphere and many places it made to attract tourism.

Alcohol in Dubai

It is well-known in the Western countries that Islam forbids the consumption of alcoholic beverages – Sure, Islam forbids it but forbidden is applied on Muslims, not on non-Muslims. Therefore, non-Muslim individuals are allowed to consume alcohol in Dubai (but, not in public), they [individuals] must acquire a license for alcohol drinking, otherwise, they cannot drink. Muslims are not allowed to consume alcoholic beverages.

Dress Code and Sex in Dubai

Women should dress modestly when in public area, their clothes should not be too tight/revealing or transparent. Sex between those who are unmarried could lead to criminal sanctions. Don’t display affection in public, holding hands or kissing in public could lead to imprisonment.

It is against the law to live-in-relationship with opposite sex or to live together in an apartment or to share the same hotel room. Homosexuality and cross-dressing are illegal in Dubai and the whole United Arab Emirates.

With a Sharia law that strictly punishes unmarried people living in the same house, and an international population used to live as per the rules in their own countries, the blend of different traditions and cultures often leads to uninformed decisions, some of which end in tears and tribulation.”

Pornography in Dubai

Carrying – when arriving at the UAE Airport – the pornographic materials includes magazines, photos or videos (in your mobile phone, iPad or laptop) into the UAE are illegal. Magazines, books, pamphlets, videos may be subject to scrutiny and may be censored. Pamphlets, books, or gadgets with illegal contents such as critical of Islamic values, or if contents are Islamophobic, such materials could cause serious legal trouble in the UAE.

The government blocks all websites that are “offensive” to the “religious, moral, and cultural values” of the UAE. Such media and websites are banned in the UAE both in terms of access and possession.

Tourism in Dubai

Visitors to Dubai do not have any problems while travelling to or within the country as long as they respect local customs, Islamic laws and have respect for local women and citizens of the United Arab Emirates.

If you’re a western woman travelling to Dubai, you don’t have to worry about your safety. For Dubai, and the whole United Arab Emirates is very safe for all visitors especially for women. You don’t have to worry about your things, your residence whether locked or unlocked, you don’t have to worry about yourself even if you’re roaming outside of the residence or walking in streets at midnight.

Warning for foreigners in Dubai

Importantly, you’ve probably heard the stories that foreigners in Dubai are roaming freely with outfits or dresses that are not appropriate for Dubai Culture and laws. Also, probably you know that people are drinking alcoholic beverages freely, or having sexual relations with an independent woman, or sharing the same hotel room with an independent woman or with your girlfriend. The reason behind it: no one had lodged any complaint or legal petition against actions done by foreigners.
